As a single mother, Jodi started a successful business as a dance teacher and dance studio owner, almost sixteen years ago. From the beginning, it was about providing her own children with an inspiring home away from home as their Mama worked.
Jodi started Rhythm and Shoes Dance Studio to provide a safe place for children, teens and adults to express themselves through dance without any judgement. Without any auditions. Without any competition. She wanted to provide a place where ANYONE could come in and receive a quality dance education without being judged for what their body looked like. She wanted to provide a community.
And Jodi has! She is proud beyond measure and have loved every minute of it.
Jodi continued to expand her education and to develop and offer additional programs at Rhythm and Shoes Dance Studio. Five years ago, she started the Rhythm and Shoes Performance Company, a non-competitive performance group that performs at local parades, sporting events, and nursing homes. The performance group (RSPC) raises over $800 each November to purchase gifts for underprivileged youth in our community for the holidays and does all of their performances free of charge.
Programs that she is currently working on developing are "Jeune Artiste, a playgroup for young Artists", which is a playgroup that incorporates literature, art and movement for artists ages 3-5 as well as a series of story based yoga sequences for yogis ages K-5th grade.
